It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Well, the tree is up and decorated, thanks to the help of Jackson and Cole-sort of.  TJ has been working hard on getting the lights up on the outside of the house, interesting work with only 2 outlets outside.  I love having all the decorations up.  Cole likes to remove all the decorations!  He takes them off the tree, and tries to put them back on, but they all end up on the floor.  Only 2 broken so far!

Jackson is really becoming a reader.  I love to hear him read.  It is so fascinating to me.  Friends told me at the beginning of the school year that he would be reading by Christmas, and I thought, "No Way!"  Boy, was I wrong.  He has lots of sight words, but those that he does not recognize he sounds out.  My heart just sings when he figures out a new, difficult word.

Cole got both of his top two-year molars.  I thought it would be much more painful(for everyone-think lost sleep), but he didn't have them one day, and the next morning when I got him out of his crib, he pointed to his mouth.  I stuck my finger in and, lo and behold, two new teeth.  He is still not a huge talker, but can repeat many things we say.  He is going to be my strong, silent one...

The boys' favorite things to do together are wrestle and chase.  Cole is the instigator in both of these scenarios.
He will push Jax down (ok, so Jax kind of falls down on purpose after Cole pushes him), and then Cole will jump on top and tackle him.  It is quite the sight.  The chase game is mostly after they get out of the bathtub.  They run up and down the hall upstairs completely naked, chasing each other-mostly Cole chasing Jax.  Then Jax will hide, and Cole will look for him, and then it starts all over again. I think they would do this for hours if we would let them.  And they are both laughing and screaming the entire time. TJ and I just sit in our room and laugh.

Thanksgiving was great.  Lots of good food, family, and fun.
We ate lunch at Denny and Connie's, then headed out to my parents for dinner.
What a blessing to get to spend the holidays with family.

Halloween

Catching UP!
It has been a while since I wrote.
Last week, we had Jackson's first Parent-Teacher Conference. It went well.  Mrs. Houser had only good things to say about Jackson.  I have to say, I could sit and listen to someone say great things about my kid all day.  It was a thoroughly pleasant experience.  The day before our meeting with Mrs. Houser, Jackson came home sick from school for the first time.  So, after having perfect attendance for the first quarter, he missed a day of the first week of the second quarter.

Yesterday was Halloween, anad the boys had a great time.  After much deliberation, Jackson decided to be Bumblebee from Transformers.  I bought Cole a Tiger costume, and he wore it for pictures.  When it came down to Halloween evening, Cole was about 6 weeks overdue for a haircut, so with that much hair, I decided to give him a faux-Hawk and have him trick-or-treat as a punk rocker.  We started out the evening going to a few houses that were not in our neighborhood (Doris and Stan Hall's, Cheri and Bill Patterson's, Grandma-Too's, Nana and Papa's and some other houses on their cul-de-sac, and then Jerry and Debby Daniel, and the Veligati's).  Meanwhile, my Mom came over and handed out candy at our house until we got back.  Cole hit a few houses in our neighborhood, then stayed back with Grandma and ate dinner while Jax and I finished out the neighborhood.  By about 8:30, we had lots of candy and 2 very tired little boys.

Some Cole info:  He is starting to repeat many words that we say.  Last night, he would say "Trick-Treat".  He has started running at me and throwing his arms around my legs and hugging them.  It is so sweet.  He emjoys taking walks in the jogging stroller, and still wants to be outside all the time.  He loves to sit in his rocking chair in his room and "read" by himself.  He would spend entire days of his life opening and shutting doors.  I do not see the fascination, but then again, I am not 1 and 1/2 years old.  He can not get enough of chasing Jackson around the house, and Jackson is a really good sport, and allows it most of the time.  I hope they will be the best of friends.

I am sure I have missed some events from the last 2 weeks, and I really do mean to post more often, but somehow the time just gets away from me.  I vow to try to post more often.  After all, this is my way of holding on to the memories of Jax and Cole's childhood for them.
"Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose."

In the last week or so, I have become re-addicted to the Twilight series, watching all 3 movies again and rereading the final book, Breaking Dawn, all to get geared up for the 4th movie coming out on November 18th.  A line from the book that really touched me is in the locket Bella gives to her daughter.  It says "more than my own life".  I love this quote.

Another quote I love: For my kids-

No One Else Will Ever Know The Strength Of My Love For You
After All, You're The Only One Who Knows
What My Heart Sounds Like From The Inside
