Easter weekend was a success.
There were no major meltdowns, no sugar highs, and only a little bit too much food and candy had by all.
On Saturday morning, we drove to Brookfield to have lunch and an Easter egg hunt at Aunt Pam and Uncle Jeff Harper's house. Jackson was most excited about the bouncy house, and it was the first thing he asked about when he got out of the car. He spent a lot of time in it, and Cole had fun in there, too. They also rode all of the 4-wheeler/alligator type vehicles that Uncle Jeff has around. The food was wonderful, and we got to see a lot of people we only see about once per year.
On Saturday evening, we went over to Bill and Cheri Patterson's. They were having a small family get-together. We got to see Mackenzie, but Jackson was more excited that Brielle and Alexandra were there.
On Sunday morning, we got up and went to church at Green Valley Baptist Church (where I have been going since I was a little girl), and after a short nap for Cole, we met Nana and Papa Patterson, and Kerry, Brielle, and Alexandra at Moila Country Club for lunch. After lunch, we went back to Nana and Papa's house to hunt for Easter eggs and play outside.
On Sunday evening, we went to Ryan and Jeana's house in Gower for dinner. We had hamburgers, french fries, deviled eggs, rolls... After dinner, Jeana and I took Cole for a walk. Then we played across the street at the pond for a little while. Jax, TJ, Ryan, and Grandpa Harper played basketball in the driveway, too.
Then back home and to bed.
Crazy busy weekend, but everything went well.

For lost Baby Harper
We found out yesterday that Ryan and Jeana had a miscarriage. My heart goes out to them. To lose this little person, someone you never met, but feel like you know from the moment you find out you are pregnant-must be an indescribable pain.
Hearing your unborn child's heartbeat for the first time is one of those miraculous moments in life. At the time, you think, surely this is the most amazing sound in the whole world.
Then, you hear that child's first cry as he enters the world-and you think-This is the most amazing sound in the world.
Then, one day, your baby calls you "Mama"-and you think-This is the most amazing sound in the world.
Then, not long after that, that same little person, whom you love more than anything, says "I love you, Mama"-and you are absolutely sure this is the most amazing sound in the world.
Then, a couple of years later, that same little person, now 4 years old, while eating breakfast just this morning, says "Mom, did you know there are people who do not have any food to eat?"
"I know, honey, what do you think we should do for them?"
"Let's feed them, Mom"
Now, that is amazing!
While my heart is breaking for Ryan and Jeana, and I am crying as I write this thinking about the first time I heard Jax and Cole's heartbeats, and their first cries, etc....I am also celebrating the maturity of my little boy, who has such a kind heart, and wants to help others in need. I think we all try to instill in our children a kind and giving heart, and some days the Lord lets us see that we are doing this parenting thing right, after all.
I am fervently looking forward to another Harper pregnancy in the near future.

More Ice Cream, Please!
TJ always has the best ideas.
Tonight, his award-winning idea was to go get Dairy Queen for the whole family. Well, almost the whole family. Poor little Cole always gets left out of all the fun (and yummy) stuff. On the way home, TJ told Jackson it was okay if he didn't eat ALL of his ice cream, "You can save some of it for tomorrow", he said. Jackson's response "WHY?" And I agree, although if we keep going to Dairy Queen, I am going to have to run a few more miles each week. YUM! So worth it.
Jackson has pink eye. It started Wednesday morning in his left eye, so we started antibiotic eyedrops right away, but, of course, on Thursday morning he woke up with it in the right eye, also. Somehow the rest of the family, even Cole, has managed to avoid getting it. Putting eyedrops in Jackson's eyes is absolute torture for everyone involved. I have never seen anyone who can squeeze his eyelids closed so tightly in my life.
Cole has started doing another funny thing-it never ends with this kid.
He puts the back of his wrist up against his open mouth, and then flaps his hand like he is waving, all the while making noise as loud as he can. He sounds like a little Indian and looks like he is trying to wave goodbye with his mouth.
He also has started coming over to me (and TJ) after he falls down, to give us a hug, and pats us on the back. Kinda Like, it's OK, I am fine, Mom.

Dad amazes me once again!
Jackson and I went to see "Rio" in 3D on Saturday at the movie theatre. TJ and Cole stayed home. It was really cute. Jackson liked it.
On Sunday morning, the boys and I went to church and TJ stayed home under the premise of cleaning out the storage room and garage. I have to be honest. I did not expect much. Not that I did not think he would get anything done, there was just so much stuff!
So, when we got home, I was shocked. The storage room looked like someone had added about 300 square feet to it, and we could probably fit a third car into our third car garage now, (or just a bunch of riding toys). UNBELIEVABLE!!
Cole has started bobbing his head to the music whenever we are in the car. It is so hilarious-because he actually has pretty good rhythm. We have not caught it on video yet. We will have to be quick, these things are fleeting, you know.
This coming Saturday(the day before Easter), we will be going to Brookfield to Aunt Pam and Uncle Jeff Harper's house for our annual Easter dinner and Easter egg hunt. We have been doing this for as long as I can remember. I was hunting Easter eggs at their house when I was a kid. Jackson loves it, and I hear Aunt Pam got a bounce house for the kids this year. Should be a lot of fun. I am excited to see Cole's response to the egg hunting and all the people.
Then on Easter Sunday, after church, we will go to Moila Country Club for lunch with Denny and Connie and the Moore family.
Will be a really busy weekend.

Scrunchie Face
Cole is walking everywhere. Even getting up every time he falls down, so he can keep walking.
He got his first taste of chocolate ice cream last night-we went to Dairy Queen and got Blizzards after dinner.
He has also started to do this funny smile where he scrunches up his nose. It is too cute. I will try to get a picture of it so I can post it on here. We call him Scrunchie Face!
Jackson had his kindergarten screening this week. Apparently, twiddling of the thumbs is a skill that he is expected to perform. The screener said 'Jackson did not have any success twiddling his thumbs'. To which my response was 'I did not realize that was important for a 4-year old'. In my head, I was thinking, 'Thank goodness he has never been bored enough to have needed to twiddle his thumbs'. Anyway, otherwise he did great.

Well, another week has flown by, and here I am behind on posting.
Cole dropped the bottle from his bedtime routine this past weekend. Needless to say, I am a very proud Mom-only went a month over when I said we would get rid of it by. He had no trouble at all with losing the bottle and is only getting up a measly 15 minutes earlier in the morning (this is a really long 15 minutes on the days your father has to get up with you). I have now put away all of the "baby" items-bottles, bottle warmer, Boppy, baby bath, etc. It is almost starting to look like adults live here with the two of you.
Jackson and Cole went out to my parents house this evening during my Junior League meeting, and on the way home, Cole tried to fall asleep. To keep him awake, we started singing songs. ABC's, Twinkle, twinkle, etc. To spice things up a bit, (and keep it interesting for Jackson), I was singing the songs with a lot of incorrect words- Twinkle, Twinkle little -cloud, sun, tree, and so on. Baa, Baa -yellow, purple, white, striped, polka-dotted- sheep-you get the idea. Jackson thought this was absolutely hilarious, laughing and telling me I was singing it wrong, and it worked keeping Cole awake for a little while, but he eventually drifted off about 2 miles from home.
Now, the boys are in bed, TJ is out of town, and I should really get on the treadmill, but the motivation is just not there. Oh, well, maybe tomorrow-or maybe not! I will probably lay in bed and read.I have only run once since my half-marathon. I think I was kind of burned out from training.
Tomorrow is Amanda Heeren's birthday, and it makes me think of all the birthdays I got to celebrate with her at UMKC. College is such an amazing time, and I am such a lucky person to have found such an amazing friend on my very first day at college. You boys will forge lots of friendships in your lives, but none so amazing as those friends you find when you aren't even looking. Happy birthday, Amanda!! I love you and I always will.
Boys, I love you, you are my Heart!

Lots of Happenings!
Well, I have not been able to blog for a while. Last week, we were pretty busy, and then out of town Friday into Saturday. Then, I sat down to blog on Monday, and our internet was out-which ended with me very frustrtated with AT&T after spending an hour on the phone with them trying to get it fixed. TJ go it back up and running yesterday, but I worked until 11pm.
Well, we went to KC last Friday, ate at 810 Zone on the Plaza with David and Jana and adorable little Emmy, then went back to their house and hung out for a while. TJ and I were up at 0630 the next morning to leave for my race. I ran my half-marathon in 1:53:56 (finishing 47th in my division-females 30-35). Afterwards, we came home, and TJ went out and picked up the boys at my parents house.
Cole is walking a lot more now, even getting himself to a standing position in the middle of the room (not needing to pull up on anything). His favorite place to walk? -in the street-Thanks, Dad. TJ lets Cole walk in the street when he has him outside, so now Cole thinks that is the best place to walk. Both of the boys really enjoy going on walks through the neighborhood. If Cole does not think it has been a long enough walk, he will just dive toward the stroller to get back in and keep going. I make Jax walk up the hills. I figure between Cole (22pounds), and Jackson (44pounds) and stroller (15-20pounds), I am pushing 80 pounds around the neighborhood-this has got to be a great workout.
Jackson had a friend over to play on Tuesday night, Taylor Eiman, who lives just up the street. We love this neighborhood. There are so many children. Always someone outside for Jackson to play with. The Ababneh boys, Amir and Zed, are playing basketball in their driveway almost every evening, and are always nice to Jackson and lower their basket so he can play, too.
