When you're having fun.
And we have been having lots of it.
It has been almost two weeks since I have blogged, and while they call these the "lazy days of summer", there have been nothing lazy about them at our house. Aside from work, the necessary evil, we have been going like crazy. To the pool, playing outside, out to Grandma and Grandpa's, we even bought me a new car. I got a Lexus RX 400h (h for Hybrid). I am really excited-is it bad that I am more excited that it is a hybrid than I am that it is a Lexus?
I had been planning Jax' birthday party for weeks (almost a month), and yesterday was finally the day. He had asked everyday this week, "how many days til my birthday party, Mom?". A pirate pool party at Moila Country Club pool was the plan. He was very excited. We had been watching the weather all week, and even though they were calling for 30% chance of rain, I thought we would be fine. We woke yesterday to cloudy skies, and imminent storms. By 9:30 am, and watching the radar, we could tell a pool party was not in the cards for us. I had a semi-back-up plan of going bowling, but it was not what Jax wanted. So, TJ was at his Friday morning meeting, and his secretary mentioned Monkey Cove at Ramada Inn (an indoor water park here in St. Joseph). We decided that would be great, and TJ called them immediately. They had no bookings for yesterday, so they got us in, and we even got to use the birthday party room. It worked out perfectly, and they were very helpful. Most importantly, the kids (all 21 of them) had a blast! Jackson played hard and even went down the really big slide all by himself. Cole could not get enough of the water, and wanted to go down the small slides with TJ over and over.
Some kids from preschool: Cassidy Macrander, Patrick Rivas-Gotz, Taylor Eiman, Gracie Allison, Gabby Chapman, and Hadley Miller came.
Some friends from the neighborhood were there. Thrashers, Robertsons, Teschners, and Christian Covault.
Grandma, Grandpa, Ryan and Jeana (with Remle), Nana and Papa, Grandma, Too, Aunt Kerry and Uncle Coby, Brielle and Alexandra, Jaclyn with Kaleigh and Zack.
David and Jana came to town with Lincoln and Emmy in tow.
The Brown's got here about noon yesterday. We went to lunch with them, and the guys left to golf, and we headed back to the house to play until party time (after picking up cupcakes from Delish). They came back to the house after the party and we ordered pizza, and then headed home at bedtime for the kiddos.
All in all, a fantastic day. The birthday party was a huge success, and the boys were exhausted when we got home. But, you'll never guess what one of Jax' first questions of the day was today. "Mom, Can we go to the pool today?". Of course, we can.
